Love Story
We met online. Then, after dating and having Zoey, John proposed on the rooftop of our new home while stargazing.
Wedding Day Details
Our wedding day took place on August 25th, 2018 at Stonewall Farm in Berthoud, CO. For us, our wedding was all about family. Therefore, we kept everything extremely personal from the nostalgic family photos, that were placed throughout the reception, to the hand painted horseshoes that we placed on every napkin for our guests to take home and enjoy.
The favorite part of our wedding day was being to celebrate becoming a family with those that we love the most. For us, the journey to becoming husband and wife was full of more trials and tribulations than it is for most couples. This is due to the fact that John and I would become pregnant with a child, whom would be prenatally diagnosed with Down Syndrome, after only three months of dating. Despite the hardships, John and I still become the best of friends and Zoey the center of our world. For us, this happy ending was made possible due to the constant outpour of love and support given to us by our friends and family. If it weren’t for them, we would not have built the strong foundation that our relationship stands on today, nor would we have this awesome reason to celebrate.
More Wedding Day Deets
As far as our overall look went, we tried to keep things simple and elegant. We choose a venue that stood beautiful all on its own yet could be personalized to better reflect us as a family. We did this by adding florals and touches of color here and there. The color scheme we loved was full of natural tones, mostly pinks, greens and grays, with some added florals. We also used a variety of textures and contrasting tones to add both depth and complexity to our overall style. My favorite being the colorful horseshoes against the grey napkins. This kept our table scape interesting but not over the top.
Desirae’s Tips to Save
I think the biggest money saving trick for us was finding a venue that allowed us to both bring our own catering as well as our own alcohol. We also cut costs by using plasticware, instead of china, since neither our venue nor catering supplied this, and by ordering only half flowers and reusing our aisle flowers for the other half of our centerpieces.
